Getting Started

Est Read Time: 5 minutes

Real talk here.

I used to make content on the fly when I first started. In fact, I actually wasn’t planning on being a content creator, I just kind of fell into it!

When I started Razzle Marketing, the plan was to do Facebook Ads for Small Businesses. But a combination between COVID and the iSO and privacy updates, the plan had to change.

Small businesses could not invest in Facebook Ads, let alone hire someone to do it for them!

This is why I decided to pivot to working with Real Estate Agents –specifically older agents who understand the value of social media when it comes to business, but don’t have the time or understanding to do it themselves.

I landed on social media management/content creation because it was the main focus for the first two years.

My team and I lived and breathed content creation, listening to podcasts and taking online courses. Because of course, we wanted to serve our clients the best we possibly could!

So as you can imagine, over the last two years, we got really good at it. We’ve learned how to streamline the content creation process –and it is a process, my friend!

And I wanted to share that process with you in a three-part series, because I want you to be able to create a consistent online presence for yourself with confidence, consistently. And I wanted to make sure you understood, which is why it’s broken down into three parts.

Trust me, the more you do it,  the easier it gets!

And let me give a few reasons really quick as to why you want to content plan:

  1. It saves you time
  2. It allows you to be consistent
  3. It gives you the space to have purpose behind your content
  4. You stress less
  5. You feel in control (and I don’t know about you, but I get extremely stressed from feeling like things in my life are out of my control 😬)

So are you ready to dive in?!

Get Inspired

In this post, I’m going to walk you through DAY 1: CONTENT PLANNING.

Then in Part 2, we’ll go through the outline before our final part that will walk you through creating content!
[Oooooo I’m so excited!! I think this is going to blow your mind 🤯)

Step 1)

Alright, so the first thing you’re going to want to do is schedule two hours, two days in a row for content planning and creation. (Maybe three if you take a little longer to get inspired.)

I want you to commit to doing this one to two times a month, depending on how much content you cover in one sitting. My recommendation is to do at least two weeks at a time and probably no more than four or six weeks.

Trust me, you’ll get addicted to having your content done up for a few weeks at a time because of the peace of mind you experience is AMAZING!

Step 2)

Okay, so now it’s day one of two for your content planning and creation!

What you’re going to do is set a timer for about 15 to 20 minutes. (This is so you don’t overwhelm yourself and sit down for two hours doing just this step.)

You’re going to come up with 5 or 6 themes. I’d suggest using a pen and paper so you don’t chance getting distracted by something on your computer, but you do whatever is going to make you feel the most comfortable and the most excited.

For example, some themes for me as a content creator could be:

  • Editing
  • Content Creation
  • Tools
  • Day-To-Day
  • Social Media

If you’re in Real Estate, a few themes could be:

  • Buying
  • Selling
  • Staging
  • Contracts
  • Behind-The-Scenes

Heck, if you know of any holidays coming up, you could include those in your themes too!

And if you’ve thought of six and you still got time then keep going!!! It truly will never hurt to have more content thought up.

Step 3)

Now you’ve got a handful of themes! And we’re going to go further yet with each of those themes.

I’d like you to set a timer for 15 to 20 minutes again. Again, this is to help you feel like it’s manageable.

The whole goal with this series is to make you feel confident in content creation and not feel overwhelmed when you sit down to do it.

Okay, so you’ve got that timer set a second time, right?

Great!

Now you are going to brainstorm topics for each theme.

Think of the themes as a headline and then the topics as subheadings.

For example, under my content creator themes:

  • Editing
    • Self Editing
    • Tools for editing
    • Grammarly
    • When to edit
    • Reasons why you want to edit
  • Content Creation
    • Tools I use
    • Planning
    • What kind of content to post: Reels, carousel, graphic
    • 80/20 Rule
    • Content Outline
  • Tools
    • Grammarly
    • Canva
    • Facebook Creator Studio
    • Toggl
    • Asana

And I’ll give you a few examples for my Real Estate themes:

  • Buying
    • Know before you buy
    • Pre-Qualifying
    • Red Flags
  • Selling
    • Red flags
    • Why you want an inspection
    • Why hire an agent
  • Staging
    • Must know
    • What to look for in a photographer

Again, if you’ve written topics under each theme and you still have time on your timer, then keep going! It will never hurt to have more content ideas in the bank. It will make the next step so much easier, plus you’re able to plan out content for longer!

So really, it’s a win-win.

And that is getting inspired when it comes to your content, my friend. I’m sure you’ve got to be feeling excited already because as you can see, with just a few topics under each theme, I have thought up at least three weeks of content!!! 🤩🤩

Trust me, when I started doing this, my content-creating game completely changed.

It made the outlining and writing process so much faster and so much easier! I stress less and I create more consistently.

When it comes to your online presence, consistency is key.

Alrighty!

So we’re going to come back next week and I’m going to deep dive into doing your calendar outline → And it’s going to include a downloadable calendar for you!!

Like I said, I’m planning on making this the easiest possible process for you.

Everytime you need to generate content ideas, rinse and repeat this process.

So until next week, I wish you nothing but prosperity, success, and happiness!
