If you’re ready to get started with your online marketing by delving into Social Media then let me tell you about where to start.

DEFINE YOUR AUDIENCE

I cannot express to you the importance of defining your audience, it is literally ground zero for anything in your marketing. To create valuable content, effective ads, or even to have copy that they can connect with, you need to have your audience defined.

And by audience, we mean one person.

Now before you panic and think about how ‘limiting’ this is, let’s go on a bit of a conversation about why this actually is the opposite of limiting!

I thought that thinking about my audience as one person was limiting at first too, I wondered how I was ever going to get clients if I talked to one person and cut out all those other people?

The reality is, when I’m talking to one person I am making them feel seen and heard. I am able to identify their pains and struggles and tell them that I see it and I have the solution for it.

You cannot talk with that sort of clarity when you’re trying to talk to everyone.

Plus it sounds more salesy when you’re talking like, “You guys will never believe this!” Versus, “I have something to tell you that you will never believe!”

Language is everything in marketing.

And you cannot speak using the right language if you don’t know who you’re talking to. Talking to everyone leads you to talking to no one.

Of course, you can have multiple persons or audience/client avatars, but you don’t want to make your marketing complicated by having too many avatars. One or two is the perfect place to start!

Think about one perfect audience member –it can be a client you’ve had in the past or a client you are aspiring to work with.

This person is your biggest cheerleader, they like, comment, share, and save your content. They absorb the value of everything you put out and jump on working with you the moment they need you.

Think about this person.

What are they struggling with right now? What is their biggest challenge? What is holding them back from taking the step they need?

Try to be clear on the words that they are actually using so that you can use those words in your content and marketing.

If you haven’t gotten clear on who your ideal audience (client) is then you are adding so much unnecessary stress to the process! You could be saving so much time and stressing so much less if you would just take the time to stop and get clear.

Your ideal audience/client is your guide for what content you should be creating because all the content is supposed to identify their pain points, give them small wins, and allow them to get to know you better so you can nurture your connection.

If you feel lost or stuck, your ideal audience/client is what is going to give you direction! Think about what you can do right now to solve a problem you know they have and create some content around it!

Your ideal audience/client is ground zero.

Even if you’ve already been posting content or doing any sort of marketing but you have not done this vital step then you need to stop!!

In fact, to help you get clear I created a Questionnaire that you can get sent to your inbox –and I highly recommend you take advantage of this free questionnaire so you can start building your foundation properly.

Stop navigating through your marketing in a foggy haze with no idea of what to do. Clear the fog by defining your ideal audience/client.

And don’t just go through this questionnaire once, because as you grow, so does your audience, which means their needs will change over time. You can stay on top of how their needs are changing but always come back to this questionnaire.

(Also I love doing this because I think it’s incredible to not only see my growth by my community’s growth too!!)

If you feel stuck, if you don’t know where to start, or if you don’t know what to do, this is where you need to start.

I promise, I learned from experience that when you do this, great things happen. When you know who you’re serving you’re able to serve them better which in turns means your clients feel better.

It’s an all around win-win!!

Now get on to clarifying who you are serving, get the freebie:

Be sure to bookmark/favourite this page so that you can remember to come back to this time and time again. It will save you so many times, like I really cannot stress this enough.

Do the work!

Clarify your audience.

Until next week, I hope that you have a happy, successful, and adventurous time.
