The Importance of Outsourcing/Hiring

Read Time: 3.5 Minutes

As a small business owner, I know that funds are tight and you have to be thoughtful as heck about where you are spending and investing. And the greater the sum, the greater the risk, so you’re unsure where it’s best to invest.

With that being said, I’m sure you know that there are areas where you need to invest.

One of the important areas to invest in is outsourcing.

Believe me, I also had all the excuses as to why I shouldn’t hire someone onto my team–at least not yet.

But I took the plunge and I hired a Virtual Assistant (VA) and let me tell you!

👏IT.

👏IS.

👏LIFE.

👏CHANGING.

No joke!

By handing off all the tedious tasks I don’t have time or patience for, I have freed up so much of my own time to do the critical work. The work that ‘moves the needle’.

Without my VA, I would be spending at least an extra 10 hours a week working. I know that doesn’t seem like a big deal, but I have a two-year-old who is growing like a freaking weed and I don’t want to miss watching her grow and being a part of that growth.

Having more time to work on the important aspects of my business and spend more time with my family has been worth every dollar spent!

But if getting to focus on ‘your thing’ or spend more time with your family isn’t enough to entice you, how about this:

“Time is money.”

Let’s say your hourly wage works out to be about $50 an hour.

What are you doing with your time that is worth $50 an hour?

Sort email?

Scroll social media?

Input your books?

Research the difference between tools?

Creating content?

Attending copious meetings?

The list goes on and on and on, my friend.

I’d suggest you write out everything you do in a day for a week or two. Don’t leave anything out! Then review your work and decide what work are you doing that is worth $50 an hour and what tasks are you doing that could be handed off to someone who is going to do it for less than $50 an hour.

I am certain you will be surprised when you look at everything you do.

And besides, I am sure there are plenty of things on your ‘to do’ list that you are less than passionate about. So why not hand it off to someone who loves doing that particular work?

Why would you deny them the opportunity to do work they are passionate about so you can work on the things you’re passionate about?

There is a point where it does not make sense to be doing it all by yourself, and I am telling you, if you have been thinking about hiring someone, you should have been looking into it yesterday.

If you free up your time from doing the small tedious things you will have more time to focus on the money-making aspects of your business.

Trust me, I have experienced this myself!

If you spend a little money (correctly), more money will come your way.

Choose one or two areas you know you are lacking passion for and find someone else to do it. Free up your time and mind from the mundane tasks.

Okay, so what you waiting for?!

Create some clear objectives on what you need done and define the kind of person you are looking for to fill the roll.

The only way you will regret hiring someone is if you hire the wrong person. So be sure that you are prepared to interview potential candidates and have clear expectations or else you won’t be able to clearly vet the right person and they will not be able to deliver on what you’re looking for if you aren’t clear.

I wish nothing but success, prosperity, and happiness for you and your biz, friend!
