Are You Utilizing Social Media to Grow Your Community?

Est Read Time: 3.5 Minutes

Did you know that you can use social media to grow and nurture your community?

If you aren’t already using it, you may want to consider it.

One main reason is that customers do more research before they commit to buying, especially high ticket items. And if you are not on social media and your competitor is, guess who that customer will more likely buy from?

You may not see money back right away from investing time and money into your social media, but it will contribute to someone making the final decision to buy –if done right!

See, people need more ‘touch stones’ from a brand before they will spend their money on them. For instance, someone scrolling through Facebook and sees that one of their friends shared a post from your page. (Touch Stone One) They are now interested in you and your brand, so they Like and Follow your page. (Touch Stone Two) You share in a post that you have an email list, encouraging people to sign up for it, which they saw and decided they would sign up. (Touch Stone Three) Then, in one of your emails, you promote a new product or service you’re launching. Turns out it’s something they were just thinking they needed! (Touch Stone Four) Finally, they become an official customer or client of yours.

Now, I wouldn’t recommend jumping into creating multiple social media accounts if you’re just starting out. Pick one or two and commit to them. Personally, I’d recommend Facebook and Instagram because you can link them up and easily schedule content for free using Facebook Creative Studio. But choosing the best channels also depends on your business and who you serve. This is why you need to know who your audience is and where they are showing up.

So How Do You Use It To Grow Your Community?

Providing valuable content consistently.

Now I’m not saying that you have to be posting every single day, but it is ideal to post at least 3 to four times a week. Test and figure out what works best with your audience.

By valuable content, I mean content that serves your audience. Usually, it will fall under one of these categories, entertainment, information, or education.

It’s going to take some time and real commitment, but if you are consistent over a long period of time you’ll get to see your community grow and thrive! (We suggest you commit to three months minimum.)

But it will take more than just posting. You need to be on there engaging with your community. Meaning replying to comments, reviews, and direct messages. And don’t just reply, ask more questions! It’s the perfect opportunity to not just learn how your audience speaks, but also really learn their problems and how you can solve them.

Engaging with your audience helps to nurture your relationship and builds trust. When your audience trusts you they will not only buy from you, but they are more likely to buy more or higher ticket items.

So you see why it’s important to not just have social media accounts for your business, but also posting consistently and engaging daily, right?

It helps establish you as a legitimate and serious business.

When you post consistently you really reinforce that you are the expert. And daily engagement helps build trust between you and potential customers.

So really, what can you lose by trying? (Just don’t post anything that could get your or your business in trouble! What goes on the internet, stays on the internet.)

Still confused? That’s okay! Just shoot me an email and I can give you more clarification.

I hope that you are successful and prosperous, friend.

Happy Writing!
